Flames of War: My Early War German Army

So in keeping with my interest in Axis forces, I decided I would assemble a German comapnay as well from a bunch of German 15mm stuff I already had.  This army is 80% painted and I in the process of modifying its basing, etc. for use with FoW rules.
So the infantry are Mid or Late war I believe, but close enough for the early war Schutzen infantry.  Picked up the trucks to move them.  Also bought two Schwer Panzerspah for recon.  Then as for tanks, I have 1x Command Tankette, 2x Panzer IICs,  5x Panzer IIIs and 2x Panzer IVs.  This will be used as a Mittlere Panzer Company.  Wish I had two more Panzer IVs for more heavy guns.  Just have to paint up the trucks and Panzerspahs....and maybe the Panzer IVs and then flock the bases. This and the Japanese by this Thursday... for my first games of FoW!!

Flames of War: My Japanese Army Part 2

Well,
I started this project thinking...hey 15mm is so much faster and easier to paint than 28mm....wrong.  What 15mm lacks in detail it makes up for in volume.  15 tanks and four platoons of infantry were enough to humble me.  Anyways, the primary colors are on everything except the newest editions (guns and 2x Type 97 tanks).

Instead of waiting for Battlefront to introduce their Type 97s, Type 1 (At guns) and the Battalion 70mm guns I decided to pick up some Battle Honors cheap from one of the LGSs.   The AT guns were a little tricky, but the BN gun (in pieces on the right of the picture) were ridiculous.  Once painted and flocked Im sure no one will be able to tell.  The Type 97s are the 47mm variant that came out in '42 I believe, but they should do fine.

BN Gun assembly...big fingers and small pieces do not work well together!

Well I tried color matching online and then finding the paints and then waiting for the ones I ordered...in the end it came done to Ochre and a little patience for the first coat.  I plan to darken and detail today...

So the Hard edge cammo  pattern used by the Imperial Army requires a special khaki with a tinge of yellow different than the infantry uniforms.  I decided to go with Brown as the base coat and I will lighten and darken from here accordingly.  Mixxing the right amount of paint for batch painting 15 tanks was really hard.  However, having the P3 Palette (which I could have made myself!!) kept the paint at the right consistency for several hours as I went through these bad boys.  So all ten of my Type 89s.

Here are all the infantry and the 5 x Type 95s  I tried a deeper Ochre/ Tan mix for the Type 95s.  At a minimum when done the 95s and 89s should be similar but distinguishable.

Near and far term objectives to get in some gaming time coming up...

I won't reiterate my frustrations with school on this blog as I did in my SciFi one, but needless to say...moving on!

1) FIW - I got the guys ready and even have some game for them to hunt, so I am going to run the Long Rifle Campaign I was planning starting in the beginning of April.  We will see if there is any area support for playing at the LGS.

2) My Asian Fever has returned and I am looking to restart some Chinese/Korean/Japanese action going.  I should have my Koryo, Tang, Ming, Choson, Muromachi/Kamakra Shogunate warriors ready to take each others heads.  I plan on running the some Choson vs Toyotomi Hideyoshi skirmishes first with some twists (like the Koreans actually had a good army prepared to fight in 1592).  Or maybe the Shimazu Raid on Okinawa.  I planned a campaign years ago ad never actually carried it out.  The other campaign pending will be battles against the Wako Pirates in the Koryo and early Choson period.  I got mongols too....ooww so many options!
As for rule sets, I think Road to Osaka, Naginata or maybe THW Rally around the King

3000BC to 1500 AD RRtK Historicals

3) WW2 Skirmish....lower priority, but I might do a historical version instead of the Wierd War/ Alternate AE-WW2/ SOTR game I was planning.

Painting Report

1) I received some of my Weird War 2 Germans back a couple days ago from the painter (Hoard Painting Service).  Fantastic paint jobs.  They are very detailed and well worth the price.  A couple more groups are coming back soon, so Im looking forward to a SOTR/Incursion or AE-WW2 game soon.

2) I decided to finish off my odds and ends of my Dystopian Wars Fleets and sent them out.  A lot of carrier and airship action.  These went out to TCP.  He does fantastic work on DW minis.  Cant wait to get them back.  Then all I will have left will be my CoA Feet and Army.

3)  Next I expect to get some FIW minis back next week.  I have two painters working on them.

4) Last but not least will be my return to Ancient Asian Skirmish.  I have sent out orders of Tang and Sung Chinese to the painter.  I have a bunch more Korean and Chinese to get painted and then I can look at playing out some historical skirmish from the Sui/Tang/Silla vs. Koguryo/Beakje/Yamato Wars.
